The local roads are generally very quiet except festivities and July / August. The new motorway A4 now extends from Seville to Vejer from where it is a 10 minute drive to Los Caños. If you are coming from Malaga take the motorway via Los Barrios / Medina even though it seems longer on the map it is a faster route than via Tarifa. (Map search engines such as Mappy or Via Michelin will not show this route).

Malaga (213km.)

  • Depart airport, at San Miguel distillery filter right [Cadiz]
  • Join the N340. After 300m. take the right filter [A7-E15] [Cadiz]
  • Now follow the [AP7-E15]. There are 3 tolls (about total 12€)
  • The AP7 becomes the A7-E15.
  • Turn on to A381 Exit 110B Signposted Los Barrios / Jerez E5
  • Stay on A381 for 64km.
  • Turn off signposted Exit 24 A-389 Medina (Oeste)
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit, continue along CA-204 towards Medina Sidonia
  • At next roundabout take the second exit signposted Vejer A393
  • At next roundabout take third exit signposted Vejer along A396
  • Stay on A396 until you get to the crossroads below Vejer
  • Turn right on to the E-5 / N-340
  • Drive 1.5km. and turn off signposted Vejer / Los Caños de Meca
  • Cross two roundabouts following signs for Vejer
  • At main Vejer roundabout turn right on A2230
  • Drive 7km. and at roundabout take second exit signposted Los Caños
  • In Los Caños drive into town and the hotel is on your left (the only non-white building on the road).

Jerez (65kms.)

  • Leave the airport. Turn left at junction direction [Jerez]
  • After 1km. take the first filter to right on the [N349]. Follow the signs to [Algeciras / Cadiz]
  • Join the [A48-E5] and follow this road all the way to Vejer. Beware of the poor signposting between Puerto Real and San Fernando.
  • Follow the A48-E5 to Vejer.
  • Turn off at Vejer and filter right.
  • Take first exit right at roundabout on to A2230
  • Drive 7km. and at roundabout take second exit signposted Los Caños.
  • Dive 4km. and in Los Caños drive into the town and the hotel is on your left (the only non-white building on the road).

Gibraltar (90kms.)

Note if flying to Gibraltar we recommend that you hire a car from a Spanish rental company (www.crowncarhire.com & others). A representative will meet you at the airport & escort you to your car over the border (100m. from airport). This is generally quicker than hiring a car in Gibraltar.

  • From the border turn left along the main avenue (CA34/N351) for 13kms. Direction [San Roque]
  • Join the [N340-E15] direction [Algeciras]
  • Turn on to A381 Exit 110B Signposted Los Barrios / Jerez E5
  • Stay on the A381 for 64km.

  • After 3,5km. filter left onto the [Circunvalación] ring road direction [Cadiz / Huelva]
  • After 5,5km. follow the [A4-E5] signposted [Cadiz]. Stay on this road which becomes the [AP48-E5]
